Antonini: There is no Champions League without AC Milan

The full-back has urged his side to focus on progressing through the qualification round as he aims to get his hands on the prestigious trophy
Luca Antonini has stressed that AC Milan cannot afford to miss out on qualification for the group stages of the Champions League.

The Rossoneri finished third in the Serie A table last season to book their ticket for the Champions League play-offs and Antonini has underlined the importance of seeing the San Siro side enter the draw for the tournament proper.

"We are preparing for the play-offs of the Champions League because without Milan there is no Champions League," Antonini told Milan Channel.

"We are concentrated on working to achieve the important objective of qualifying for the Champions League.

"Milan’s objective must always be to reach the top, to obtain the best result possible, so first we are determined to get beyond the hurdle of the Champions League play-off, then we’ll see.

"We have almost a month to work for this appointment and we’ll prepare for it as best we can.

"My dream is to win the Champions League after having won the Scudetto and the Supercoppa."

Milan made it to the round of 16 last season before being beaten 4-2 on aggregate by Barcelona.
